I am currently a Master's student in computer science at Duquesne University.

Paul Miller

My research has appeared in numerous spaces such as Music Theory Online, Early Music, Music and Letters, Opera Quarterly, Perspectives of New Music, and other journals. I've written about the music of Karlheinz Stockhausen, the viola d'amore, and the connection between vegetal biosignals and electronic music. I've given conference and colloquium presentations around the world, appearing frequently at the Society for Music Theory annual conference. I have also given talks at the Stockhausen Summer Festival in Kürten, Germany, the Library of Congress, the Eastman School of Music and at Cornell University.

My solo album, The Undiscovered Viola d'Amore with Chatham Baroque was released on the Centaur label in 2023. The Strad Magazine called my performance "virtuosic" and possessing "flawless intonation". I have appeared as a performer at the Metropolitian Museum of Art in New York City, the National Cathedral, the Kennedy Center, the Darmstadt International Festival for New Music, and other notable venues. I studied with Christopher Hogwood, Jeanne Lamont, Malcolm Bilson, and John Graham.

As a teacher and pedagogue, I coordinate the entire undergraduate music theory curriculum (written and aural skills) at Duquesne University. I also run makerspace workshops in Pittsburgh with my colleagues in the Physics and Computer Science departments. My students have gone on to play important roles in the national musical scene.

I earned degrees from Vassar College and the Eastman School of Music, with additional studies at the New England Conservatory and Harvard University. I also participated as a student and later on the faculty of the Tafelmusik Baroque Summer Institute in Toronto, Canada.
